Meet our teachers

He completed a Bachelors Degree in Music at the University of Leeds in England where he specialised in the History and Culture of music as well as Analysis. Whilst at Leeds Lewis also started to develop an interest in music technology and composition, opting to undertake a year in industry during his third year of study. During this year he would go on to compose music for TV adverts at world famous production house ‘Candle Music’. Lewis continues to compose music which can be heard via his YouTube or Soundcloud accounts.

Lewis has experience teaching students of all ages and levels. He splits his teaching schedule between private lessons, as a peripatetic teacher in schools and in after school clubs. He was Head of Guitar, tutoring at The Rock Project in Southeast England for a year prior to coming to Melbourne. During this time, he mentored young musicians and helped them form a band for an end of year concert. He is happy to teach individual lessons, or small to large groups.

A large part of Lewis' free time is spent rehearsing and performing live. He has played bass and guitar in bands since he was 12 years old and to date has performed all over the world in England, France, Germany, New Zealand, Thailand, Cambodia and Australia. Alongside performing live, Lewis has a great deal of experience recording in professional studios and understands the demands of playing the perfect take!

Lewis’ teaching style is patient and measured. He will quickly establish a syllabus to suit each student’s ability, goals and interests. Lewis can cater for a student who wants to play for recreation, to sing, to join friends to form a band, or wants to work through the graded system taking exams . Although classically trained, he has experience teaching and performing many other styles including rock, acoustic, neo soul and avant-garde.
