
Georgia White
Georgia began her music studies at the age of 6 having studied piano, violin, double bass and clarinet, and is currently completing her Bachelor of Music (specialising in performance, clarinet) at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Currently studying under the renowned David Griffiths, she has also received masterclasses from nationally and internationally acclaimed artists such as Jose Franch-Ballester, Alan Vivian and Paul Champion.
In 2018 Georgia successfully completed her AmusA on Clarinet and received a near perfect score of 47 in VCE Music Investigations. She was subsequently invited to and performed at the VCE Season of Excellence’s Top Class Music at the Melbourne Recital Centre. She won the Regional First prize of the Australian Youth Classical Music Competition (2018) and was invited to perform as a guest at National Finals. Other experiences include placing 3rd in the Melbourne University’s Young Artist Competition (2019), 2nd in Highton Rotary’s Star Search (2017) and she was the recipient of the GMP (Geelong Music Performance) Festival 19&Under 1st Prize Scholarship (2017).
Whilst in her first year at The University of Melbourne Georgia was awarded the Principle’s scholarship upon entrance and has enjoyed playing first clarinet in the University of Melbourne Wind Symphony, as well as in the Philharmonic Orchestra and other chamber ensembles. Previously she has played as first clarinet with the Geelong Senior Concert Band and Geelong College Symphony Orchestra as well as concertmaster (violin) in the Geelong College String Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra.
Georgia has also loved the opportunities to play in numerous pit orchestras of musicals; expanding her love of clarinet to bass clarinet and Eb clarinet and additionally picking up the alto and soprano saxophone. Highlights include a sold-out season of Les Misérables (2019), the Victorian College of the Arts’ On the Town (2019), YABC’s Wicked (2018) and TGC’s Legally Blonde (2018).
Whilst young, Georgia has already tutored clarinet at a primary and high school level and is passionate about sharing her love of music. She values that every student has different goals and is excited to nurture musical development in individuals of all ages and abilities. Through lessons, a student can expect technical, interpretive and musical approaches to be fostered and developed.
