Dominique Parker
Dominique Parker is a professional jazz musician, educator, composer and audio engineer from Sydney. She has a bachelor of music from UNSW, majoring in jazz creative practice, which is why she specialises in all things jazz: history, composition, harmony and performance. Dom is a firm believer in tailoring every lesson to her client’s interest, no matter their experience or age. Lessons involve listening analysis, perfecting fingering techniques, understanding how harmony works and improvisation.
Dom’s commitment to music has been evident in the last five years. As an active musician throughout Sydney, Dom has been fortunate enough to be a leader and advocator for women in jazz music. Dom has represented Australia on band tours to Hong Kong, Japan, England and the USA. She has performed at Tokyo and Anaheim Disney Land, worked with James Morrison on an interstate tour and collaborated with Satoko Fujii and Natsuki Tamura. She’s played with The Sirens Big Band, Satoko Fujii, Sandy Evans and the Young Women’s Jazz Orchestra. Through her studies at UNSW she formed her own all-female experimental group ‘The Valkyrie Trio,’ and they are about to release our EP called ‘Winging It.’
Dom was nominated for the Jann Rutherford Memorial Award 2019. Aside from being a performer, Dom is a passionate conductor, musical director and audio engineer. She has worked on musicals such as ‘Shrek: The Musical,’ ‘Chicago,’ ‘Guys & Dolls’ and ‘Sweet Charity,’ all with Sydney’s finest musical societies. Dom is also a keen sound designer and video game composer, working on countless independently developed games.
