Being exposed to many teaching methodologies is an advantage of a Pianist. As a music teacher, It’s very important that you know very well children pedagogies as well as individual needs of a learner. Understanding their culture and history is essential as well. Assessing the level of the student is very important for us to be able to know what the students’ needs to learn.

For her past experiences in teaching in different schools, places and different setup styles, she learned a lot of things, She believes that as an educator, It’s not how good you are as a pianist but it’s all about how good you are at transferring the knowledge and skills to the students.

Lyka uses a combination of child centered approach and Montessori methodology of teaching, wherein students are given the chance to be more creative and use their thinking skills while learning. She believes that music really develops the personality of a person. Aside from music her goal is to teach values to the student. Her unique personality as a teacher is that she give her heart and full dedication in teaching and believes that everyone has a hidden talent; you just have to nurture it.

She graduated with a Bachelor Degree of Music Education Major in Piano and Voice as her secondary, from Centro Escolar University Manila, Philippines in 2016. She's now currently enrolled at Melbourne City Institute of Education (MCIE) in Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

She started playing piano at the age of 6 and had her formal music lesson at the age of 12. Lyka has over 7 years of experience in music teaching locally and internationally. She handled students from ages 5-30. During her college days, she used to play at the concert band handling percussion instruments and joined in a University Choir as a soprano and joined from several competitions.

Right after graduating in College she took the Board Examination for Teachers wherein she passed the exam and got her license as a Professional Music Teacher.

She believes that learning piano can be done in a way that children or an individual can enjoy and play comfortably in a relaxed manner or setting. Because she also believes that one can absorb the knowledge when he/she is happy and relax. She also uses different techniques and strategies for you to be able to learn music theories as well as the instrument (piano) in a very easy way.

Lyka is a very passionate, funny and friendly music teacher that aims to transfer her knowledge and skills about music to other people with a high quality and value. She always considers the individual differences of each student that’s why she use differentiated instructions and activities.
