Phil Tucker

Phil Tucker is a very passionate and enthusiastic live musician and composer. His motivation for music creation and education is fuelled by his passion to engage and collaborate with people who want to achieve greatness.

As a professional drummer, Phil has over 18 years live and studio experience. His musical journey begun by taking private tuition in high school, where he quickly developed practical performance, and critical listening skills. These skills, he applies in every lesson, writing session, rehearsal, and performance.

As a composer, Phil writes music for film, podcasts and other mixed media. In 2019, he was commissioned by the Melbourne Art Centre to compose an original work for the annual Stories in the Wall project.

Phil has also released music, via Spotify, Apple Music, etc, under the artist name Music Valium, which explores soundscape music for mindfulness and stillness.

As a professional drummer, Phil is a co-founding member of Melbourne indie-pop band ALPINE. The band has released two highly acclaimed albums, and received multiple accolades including iTunes Alternative Album of the Year, The Age EG Album of the Year, and multiple ARIA nominations. Over the past decade, ALPINE have completed multiple headline tours and performances across Australia, Asia, and North America, including an appearance on late night US television program Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Phil is currently completing a Bachelor Degree in Music (Interactive Composition) at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, University of Melbourne. Here he is studying composition, harmonic and rhythmic techniques, and advanced music theory.

Phil’s role as a music educator is that not only of a teacher, but a mentor and a friend. From his experience in live and studio performance, and the passion he brings to every human interaction, he offers his students a very fun and passionate music learning experience.
