LEARN FROM SARA NOW!
Ms Sara Ma is a professional piano teacher who has been teaching for over 10 years. She is currently running her own music studio in Blackburn south. She started learning accordion at age 4 and transitioned to piano at the age of 5. She completed her Bachelor of Music (performance major) and Bachelor of Education from Monash University in 2012, and further accomplished a Master degree of teaching from University of a melbourne in 2015. In addition, she attained her LRSM (Licentiate diploma) from ABRSM in 2010.

Sara is extremely experienced with ABRSM graded exams and has well planned and structured lessons for preparing exams and scholarships for schools. She has successfully helped students get through their graded exams as well as diploma exams with distinctive results. Sara believes that learning with enjoyment is crucial, so selection of materials really depends on the individual students.

After graduating her university degrees, Sara has worked in different schools as instrumental teachers such as Flinders Christian Community school. She participated in schools’ music camps and played their choir accompaniment and ensembles. Sara is also a professional piano accompanist since university. Over the last decades she has accompanied countless students for their exams and recitals.

Not only does Sara work successfully with older students, she is also an expert in teaching younger students starting from as young as age 2.5. She uses a system of teaching materials that are designed for young and preschool learners. Learning piano is always fun and full of laughters with Sara. Furthermore, Sara has had great success in teaching modern piano music and working with adult students.

In Sara’s music studio, she has a preschool-piano program for very young learners called KiddyKeys. The program started in 2019 and already has graduated a few young pianists and sent them to their official one- to-one lessons. KiddyKeys believes in making every child a star. KiddyKeys is a highly educational program that focuses on teaching piano concepts and music appreciation to children 2 1⁄2 to 5 years old. By appealing to individual learning styles, this program enables children to explore the piano and easily learn music concepts. It’s a great way to prepare children for school. Books, games, and songs play a major role in each class.

Weekly lesson plans also emphasise the development of values and self-worth. Children will experience the exciting nature of music in each 30-minute class. And by gaining musical skill and understanding, your child will also develop basic cognitive, social, and motor skills necessary to succeed in school.

While fundamental techniques are greatly focused in Sara’s teaching, enjoyments and interests are very well catered because she believes that being interested and having the love of music is the greatest drive to effective practise and learning. In teaching, Sara caters for and identifies unique needs of every single student and she always adjusts her teaching style and content accordingly.

Apart from concert opportunities you get from MusoHunt, Sara’s piano studio has regular concerts and performance opportunities for her students to experience. She also encourages students to work together to play works like duets, or ensembles with other instruments to enhance their musical experience.
