Dominic Moore
Dominic Moore is an ardent multi-instrumentalist and classically trained musician. Beginning piano lessons at age 4 and undertaking guitar lessons from age 8, music has always been a central part of his life.
Growing up in the Hunter Valley, Dominic participated in a multitude of musical endeavours. He studied piano and music theory under award-winning composer/pianist Russell Thornton throughout his entire schooling life. He also successfully auditioned for the selective Stage Band Ensemble for Aspire, the Maitland-Newcastle initiative for the creative arts from 2012-2015.
He has a natural feel for music, being able to use his perfect pitch to navigate new music more easily and understand chord structures efficiently.
After completing his HSC in 2016, receiving 1st place in the Maitland-Newcastle Diocese for Music 1, Dominic began studies at The Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Studying a Bachelor of Music Studies (Contemporary Music), Dominic was under the guidance of industry professionals such as Paul Mac, Rainbow Chan and Toby Martin. Studying at The Conservatorium allowed his production, compositional and performance skills to grow exponentially.
Majoring in Contemporary Music has allowed Dominic to see the musical world through a multi-dimensional lens. He understands the technological and production aspects of music and working with a range of personalities and musical types has allowed his musical awareness to grow.
Graduating from his Bachelor of Music Studies in 2019, Dominic aimed to make his passion for music teaching a reality. He is currently undertaking a Masters of Teaching (Secondary) which allows him to study the modern-day pedagogy of music teaching. Being a 4th generation music teacher, Dominic has a natural love for teaching and playing music. His main desire in teaching is for students to feel confident and inspired in their playing and for each of them to find enjoyment in learning their instrument.
