Tom is an experienced and passionate musician. He started guitar lessons at the age of 5 and has been developing his abilities and enthusiasm for music ever since. At the age of 10, Tom began singing, and at 12 began playing drums. He enjoys fostering a passion for music in his students. Tom has tutored drummers, guitarists and singers, both in one on one and ensemble contexts.

Tom was initially taught classical guitar but has since transitioned to a contemporary style of guitar that combines Jazz, Blues and R’n’B. During his final year of VCE, Tom was accepted into the internationally renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston and is now studying a double degree of Music and Arts at Monash University.

Throughout High School, Tom competed in Jazz festivals regionally and interstate, playing guitar, drums and singing. During this time, he also played a lead role in The Drowsy Chaperone, and drums in Legally Blonde. As well as being a soloist, Tom has extensive experience with choirs, symphonies, big bands, concert bands, jazz sextets and rock bands. He performs at a variety of gigs around Melbourne. In 2018 Tom undertook a Masterclass in Blues Guitar at the Chautauqua Institute in upstate NY.

Tom enjoys teaching all ages and caters to the individual requirements of the students. Having studied music from a young age, he understands the joys and frustrations of musicians. He teaches the importance of good habits, technique and theory to underpin the passion that many have for their instrument.

Tom enjoys tinkering with his guitars to better understand the instrument, and in 2018, built an electric guitar.
