Dylan Pinkerton
Dylan Pinkerton is a dynamic musician and teacher with lived experience in performance, sound engineering, touring, songwriting and more. With over 10 years in the industry, a bachelors degree in contemporary music from Southern Cross University as well being awarded scholarships to study abroad at Appalachian State University in North Carolina, Dylan has a holistic understanding of the music industry enabling him to guide in all aspects of a students journey from bedroom players to adept musicians pursuing a musical career.
As an educator Dylan takes a personalised approach to learning focused on fulfilling goals of each student and helping them find their direction. This down to each, supportive style of teaching is perfect for students who want more than just your typical musical education, but those who want mentorship and guidance along the way.
Although Dylan is a multi instrumentalist his main passion is acoustic and electric guitar where he teaches beginner to advance lessons in genres such as Pop, Folk, Celtic, Rock, Blues, Classical, Jazz, RnB, Country, Finger Style, Travis Picking and more. Unlike most contemporary guitar teachers Dylan teaches skills first so students can fast track their learning, often realising they can play multiple songs after a few lessons rather than focusing on one song in particular for weeks on end.
In addition to guitar Dylan is also passionate about songwriting and sound engineering. Currently he teaches two programs: Logic Pro X and Pro Tools, both of which are industry standard production DAW’s. During these lessons students learn how to start recording at home, the fundamentals of sound theory, creating beats, mixing and editing. Moreover songwriters can choose to learn a number of techniques and theory to help them write songs either on their instrument or within Logic Pro X or Pro Tools.
