Paul Hwang
Paul Hwang is an avid violinist whether it comes to chamber, orchestral or solo performance. Starting the violin at the age of four, Paul has studied violin through the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) and Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) exams and continuing his studies at Monash University, studying a Bachelor of Music and Science, studying under Erica Kennedy and Rachael Beesley.
Playing for over 15 years at the violin, Paul has procured his experience by being appointed Concertmaster and Assistant Conductor of the strings program at Balwyn High School for the entirety of High School. He was also appointed Concertmaster in Melbourne Youth Orchestra’s Summer Camp program, playing on the stages of the prestige Melbourne Recital Centre. Recent achievements include being a finalist in the Australian Music Prize (in a Piano Quintet) and winning the Best Chamber Prize, participant in the Kronos Quartet’s Future 50 masterclass and the recipient of Monash University’s Vice-Chancellors Concertmaster Scholarship.
As an active musician, Paul wishes to expand his horizons on chamber music as he enjoys making music with others the most and thriving in the collaborative ensemble environment. He has performed multiple times in the Day of Play and Chamber Day and the Progress festival at Monash University – where he got to perform side by side with the esteemed Archie Roach.
As an educator, Paul loves sharing his passion for music, exploring how colours and stories can be shown through the instrument, teaching multiple students from beginner to advanced, he tailors to every individual’s strong suit in music. He also matches to the student’s needs, developing technique fit for every individual student in order to propel them to their best.
