Roxanne Viggiano
Roxanne has been teaching piano for over 25 years and has also had a long and varied career as a professional pianist.
She was an Honours Classical piano student at Melbourne University Music Faculty and upon leaving became proficient in contemporary music while playing in extended professional seasons of such well known musical productions as CATS at Her Majesty’s Theatre and Les Miserables, Jerry’s Girls in Sydney as well as Little Shop of Horrors, Guys and Dolls ,We Will Rock You as well as many others.
She has conducted choirs around Melbourne and was resident accompanist for Choir of Hard Knocks. She regularly plays for Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria, Australian Youth choir, ReChoired adult choir and teaches in instrumental programmes in designated music schools. Included in her ongoing training has been Steiner teacher method and Orff and Kodaly training. In her early career she worked in the thriving Melbourne Cabaret and music scene.
Roxanne is a friendly and engaging teacher who is skilled at inspiring children as well as adults to feel comfortable and confident to express themselves through piano. She uses her wide experience in professional Musical Theatre, ensembles and bands to teach Contemporary or Classical styles up to Grade 8. In order to keep up to date with latest methods she attends regular Professional Development Seminars. This enables her to carefully guide students to choose the most suitable repertoire and exam syllabus if they choose to go that direction.
Available Exam Boards: AMEB Classical, AMEB Piano for Leisure, ABRSM international, ABRSM Jazz, ANZCA and Trinity Guildhall.
The majority of her students have received an A or greater grading when going for graded exams due to thorough preparation and polished expressive presentation. She believes that not all students need to enter for exams and may prefer to learn fun pieces and improvisation with valuable outcomes for personal development, wellbeing, work life balance and music appreciation.
Roxanne is available to teach in her studio or currently on ZOOM. As well as facilitating many students to achieve high grades in exams she has also guided many students towards confidence and finesse in performances and auditions.
