Marcus started his musical journey at a young age with the piano, but developed a love for the cello after taking up the instrument, strongly influenced by the recordings by Jacqueline du Pre, Jonas Starker and Gregor Piatigorsky. He completed the AMEB certificate of performance while in middle school, and received a full mark for the performance component of Higher Level Music in the International Baccalaureate program. Throughout his musical life he has participated in orchestras and chamber music; having lead his highschool orchestra's cello section and musical orchestras during his highschool years, played in the Shanghai City Symphony Orchestra, the Melbourne University Baroque Ensemble and the Monash Academy Orchestra, and having won chamber music prizes in highschool. Marcus is currently studying a double degree in Music Performance and Science at Monash University.

Marcus is eager to share his passion for the cello and its music with others of all ages. He strives to engage and foster the love of music in his students, as he is aware of the critical influence that teachers have on their students' musical development. Marcus is particularly drawn to the music of Bach, Dvorak, Schumann, Schubert and Shostakovich.
